Athlete of the Year
HMBSC annually awards a Soccer Player of the Year Award and a $500 Scholarship in partnership with the Boys and Girls Club of the Coastside. The Soccer Player of the Year Award recognizes HMBSC athletes who show excellence in Academic Success, Leadership, Sportsmanship and Community Involvement.
All Star Athletes are nominated by four basic criteria:
- Athletic Achievement-success made at the club level and beyond, standout performances in their sport, honors, skill set, leadership ability, impact on team success and personal athletic accomplishments.
- Academic success - GPA and or progressive academic success (struggling student who has made improvement), academic honors.
- Character - sportsmanship, dedication, determination and discipline.
- Community Involvement
The Coach and Team Manager of each HMBSC team (U12 and above) nominates one player each year based on the above criteria. The selected nominees complete an application form with their qualifications, which is submitted to the Selection Committee. The Selection Committee chooses one boy and one girl athlete as recipients of the Soccer Player of the Year Award.
Every Year the Boys and Girls Club of the Coastside holds an award ceremony, at which the Soccer Player of the Year Awards are presented, along with the Boys and Girls Club Youth of the Year Award.

Chris Billington Memorial Scholarship
The HMBSC created this memorial scholarship in honor of Chris Billington, a dedicated parent, referee coordinator, and soccer supporter who lost his battle with brain cancer in 2018.
